Why did you decide to join the FST position with Sysmex?

Sysmex is a growing company that offered a unique opportunity in the FST program. What stood out most to me was the opportunity for the position to take me somewhere other than my home state.

What makes the FST program unique?

There are many facets of the FST program that are unique. First, you have a bit more visibility in home office than the average Service Engineer. Second, you have a greater opportunity to get your feet planted firmly with the instruments. You are not hitting the ground running as the cliché goes. Also, the ability to see how many different Service Engineers work allows you to pick out the best qualities from each person, and add them to your repertoire.

Tell us about the type of person it takes to be successful in the FST program.

A good FST needs to have a little bit of the pioneering spirit mixed with a natural technical ability. Kind of a mix between Ferdinand Magellan and Doc Brown from “Back to the Future.”

What has been the most amazing experience or day you’ve had as an FST or an Service Engineer?

The FST program gave me the opportunity to move to Denver, a place that I have wanted to live for quite some time now.

How have you seen the Sysmex Way in action?

The team aspect of the FST program is a perfect example of the Sysmex Way. Whether it is between the FSTs themselves, the Service Engineers they assist and train with, or even Billy Haste and Mark Villanova, everyone is willing to help each other maximize their potential.

Tell us about the Sysmex products and what make them top-notch?

Sysmex takes the time and spends the money to engineer the instrument properly. It doesn’t have a cheap feel to it.

Why would a college student (or anyone) choose to join the FST program at Sysmex as a place to grow his/her career?

Sysmex is a smart company, looking to hire smart people. I have always felt that with hard work, and a good attitude, anyone can go far, especially in a company like this. Sysmex is a company that cares about its employees, customers, and community. It is obvious immediately that Sysmex cares about more than just their profits.
